Transition Videos
These videos have been produced by Transition Malvern Hills with the aid of a grant from Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to promote our 'People Make Transition Happen' event which took place on 27th May 2010.
We are highlighting the local, sustainable and resilient initiatives that are going on in the area and some of our recent events.
This first episode focuses on Local Food, starting with an example of an embodiment of Transition in the way that St Anns Well is run, the approach to the food that is served there and the reduction in waste produced. Malvern Country Markets originates from the W.I. Markets and provide some fine local produce. Food Waste is an important issue and TMH have held events to highlight the issues with a variety of speakers. Colwall Orchard Group is an outstanding community project that is restoring the old orchards and making use of their produce.
The second annual Wassailing event was held in Colwall on 23rd January 2010. Colwall Orchard Group have started maintaining the old orchards around teh village and have reinstated this traditional community event. This video is the edited 'highlights' version. If you wish to see more then the complete video can be viewed on vimeo.
Next is footage of our Gardeners' Question Time, March 2010. Many thanks to local experts Janet Williams, Catherine Mason and Grenville Simons for agreeing to take part.
Apologies for the sound quality at the start of this film due to a nearby burglar alarm.
Sophie Jones from Nourish talked to us about how to 'Eat for Energy'. She has some good tips that apply to Transition at the end too - "It is a journey that is all just small steps, one after the other, it's not some drastic change… and that's something you can do"
More videos and clips can be viewed on our YouTube and Vimeo pages.
