Adding topics and comments

A few notes on this forum.
1. The forum is just one way of keeping in touch and discussing issues. Working Groups will be adding material to their own section of the site, and you can comment directly there.
2. Anyone can add a comment, subject to moderation, but you need to register as a user to start a new topic (and to avoid the delay of being moderated). Register by going to 'Create new account' under Site log in - the account will need to approved to stop spammers signing up.
3. The forum facility is fairly basic but should be adequate for our needs.

building project in town centre

Note: This comment came in while I was away, and seems to have got lost in the publishing process:

Hi We are about to embark on a building project in town centre of Malvern. We have a 1952 house that we are having renovations to (currently no heating installed and original electrics, no insulation etc) and are having additions including rainwater harvesting, solar panels etc. We are limited in some of the things we would like to do due to geology of the land and finances but are trying to do as much as possible. Happy to post info on this and progress. Building works start on November 16th and will last 12-16 weeks. Thanks C Hall

Building project in town centre

C Hall,
Hello.  I work on the sustainability team at the County Council.  I would be really interested in hearing about the work that you are doing to your home and wondered if you would be willing to let me write a case study about the work?  It would be great to get local examples of retrofitting so that we can use them to show others how they can do the same.
Many Thanks, Rowenna

Building project town centre

Hi Rowenna

Happy to share info.  We are not experts or anything so you will have to bear with us whilst we find our way through the maze of options.
I will get in touch with you via the council.
Thanks
C Hall

Re: building project in town centre

I was keeping an eye on the site John but didn't see it. Should I have received a notification?
I for one would be interested to see information and updates on this project.

Who is building green?

Hello All,
I am currently self-employed as a local builder (Malvern area), I am very interested in getting involved with green builds. I would like to hear about any projects locally (or within a reasonable distance), I'd like to talk to anyone with a build underway or one in the pipeline that I might be able to be involved with. In addition if there is anyone out there already building green properties and would be interested in offering me some work or the chance to come and see what they do, then brilliant.
Many thanks
Sam

Have a look at the  Association for  Environment Concious Building  website www.aecb.net . Several local members are also in Transition Malvern Hills, mostly in the energy group.Small  builders need to get involved.. There is a shortage of  knowledge and skills .Much retraining is required.Green building ,particularly refurbishment ,is essential to cut energy consumption..
I have a long running  self build project you could visit .Drop me an email.

Loads happening with Transition

Thanks for the comment. There's loads happening as I hope you saw from the leaflet. Did you mean happening on this website? It is being kept up-to-date with events and working groups news, and more. Please check out thr various sections via thr menu in the left hand column.

What is going on?

Thanks for the very prompt reply.  As I'm new to this I was just trying to understand what  practical changes plans people were trying to make and what was happening locally.  I notice you were from West Malvern, what is our local Carbon footprint and how can we improve it or plan to improve it?
I may try and attend the next Drinks in Great Malvern and talk to a few people.

West Malvern

Has anything happened since this comment was written in December 08? I have only recently become aware of "Transition Malvern Hills" after picking up a pamphlet win West Malvern Village hall.
