Neighbourhood groups.

I'm wondering how on earth  to make this huge issue manageable...

I keep coming back to imagining a scenario with very scarce oil and limited energy availability.  In that situation people have to do whatever they can in their own local neighbourhoods.

Perhaps we could work towards trying to build local initiatives - for me that would be to do what I can in West Malvern.  That might involve identifying and approaching relevant local organisations such as: parish council, churches, schools, allotment association, businesses etc. and starting with an awareness campaign hoping to enlist other interested parties in the neighbourhood.  By keeping it local, that will help to make things more manageable by focusing on communication between people who already know each other - at least by sight... and folks should be able to walk (or at least cycle) to meetings.

Transition Malvern Hills might be able to help eg. by assisting provision of awareness materials etc. and helping to share ideas & progress between neighbourhood groups.  We might start by trying to identify one or two people in areas corresponding to each of the parish councils?

Malvern Mulchers

Hi
A short report on a day with Malvern Mulchers.  Weather was beautiful as usual.  We were'nt a huge crowd but we were enthusiastic.  A couple of the young people helped with the weeding and watering.  If is surprising how dry the earth is but of course we haven't had that much rain in the last few weeks (hard to believe but true).  The vegetable patch was tidied, havesting the last of the bean and tomato crop.  We have left some beans in to dry out, hopefully, to use next year.  We didn't get round to plotting out the pond, this will be done at the next mulchers event (31st Oct).  We will also need some volunteers to help prepare a new bed for potaotes and carrots to plant in the spring.  Maybe we'll get the clay oven going next time to provide us with a tasty snack.  Thanks to all that helped.  Ginny

Malvern Mulchers

Morning all.  Tomorrow is another Malvern Mulchers day at Malvern Youth Centre.  With a bit of luck we should spot a few youths other than those we bring along ourselves.  The Youth Centre has revised its opening time in line with the current season.  Plans for tomorrow include a tidy up of existing beds, preparing new beds for winter crops and last but not least, looking for a suitable site for the pond area.  The Youth Centre does have a few tools but please bring along your own, refreshments will be provided.
see you tomorrow 19th September 3-5pm
Ginny
