Day Out at CAT

Well the day out to the Centre for Alternative Technology was fabulous.  Although a few of us had been there before, we had visited it at different times in the past.  I think the main factor of the re-visit for me was that this technology has been accessible for over 30 years and this country is only just giving it a nod as though it is something alien to it.  The Centre is globally recognised for it's innovative ideas, with its constant research projects that aim to make these ideas work for the benefits of embracing alternative energy generation.  Well it's time for GB to get a grip, it's time to move forward, not hang on to old technology, such as coal fired power stations, oil and other such fossil fuels to supply our energy needs.  Well I know that, we, within the transition movement are aware of this, but our need to lobby  local government seems all the more urgent now as they procrastinate wondering how to get their heads around this whole new way of thinking.
I came away feeling inspired, with a head full of ideas, and satisfied that we in Transition Malvern Hills are making a difference.  Within the group there are some great hands on people (although there is plenty of room for new people that wish to help) that are able to continue the awareness raising and taking new ideas forward, who could also take that step further by working with MHDC to make Malvern a showcase town who has embraced alternative technology in producing it's own energy.
Many thanks to Lynne for organising the CAT visit and for driving the mini bus.  For those that couldn't make this trip keep your eyes open for our next adventure.
