On Saturday 12th May, Malvern's new community building held it's celebration event.  Malvern Community Collective (MCC) had been fighting for over 12months to stop the Malvern Youth Centre being bulldozed by County Council and turned into a housing estate.  Last November the County Council agreed to hand over the building to the MCC at a peppercorn rent for 30 years, HOORAY.   The MCC created The Youth and Community Trust (MYCT), a charitable organisation for the benefit of the community, who are now overseeing the running of the centre.  Saturdays' event marked the offical takeover, with a barbecue and fun activities during the day and a traditional Ceilidh in the evening.  The buildings is all ours, under the new name of Malvern Cube, and needs the community to support and help run it. 
The MYCT need volunteers to help to run the building and are looking for volunteers to help with the reception area and the cafe space.  If you think you have an hour or two per week (or longer) to spare please contact Jon White (building manager) on 01684 575363.
